Title of Song: The Girl who Stole My Soul
Composer: Jerron Lee
Lyricist: Muhd Firdaus
Vocals: Jerron Lee
Date Written: April 2008
This is a song composed by me and written by Firdaus.
The song is talking about a guy sitting by the river thinking of a girl he likes. This girl used to be his gf but not anymore. The girl is now with someone else . This guy is recalling all the wonderful moments with this girl but realizes it is all nothing in reality now. He is sad. His heart is sad.
The Girl Who Stole My Soul
[Verse]
As I sat by the river
My tears began to roll
I still think about her
The girl who stole my soul
We used to sit by this river
My love within my arms
Now I’m sad and lonely
Cos she.. has left me..
[Chorus]
The good times we shared
The love that we had
A past memory
A lost symphony
The kiss in the rain
The joy and the pain
I’m thinking of her
I wish she was here
But she’s gone away..
[Bridge]
Thinking of her
And the love that we had
Makes me sorry..
I still love her
Lost in my thoughts
I pray that she is happy
And as for me
I’ll sing this melody
[Repeat Chorus]
[Outro Repeat]
I’m thinking of her
I wish she was here
But she’s gone away..

This is quite a touching song. I felt quite moved by it, because of both the melody and the lyrics. The melody & arrangement bears some of your trademark characteristics!

Ah, another painfully sincere song.
Yupz it’s got “Jerron” written all over it.

Additional thoughts:
Nice to see you guys doing a collaboration! Collaborations tend to produce very fascinating results, and this is no exception.
I like the title. It’s unique, and it grabs the reader’s attention immediately.
Kah Loong, I think this “chord progression” exercise is very good in that it helps you to broaden your songwriting horizon, in that it kinda forces you to write tunes which you might not normally construct. It’s like, cos you’re so fond of C-Am-F-G, your tunes might always tend to veer towards a certain inclination…but this new chord progression makes you have to think differently.
As such, I like the verse melody. I think it’s one of your more unique tunes.
Firdaus, the lyrics are very touching. It’s got a wistful quality to it. Coupled with the melody…the song is very moving! Nice.
